Giving Harlem residents the key to housing and belonging
Harlemites feel like strangers in their own ever-gentrifying neighborhood.
Central Harlem Community Land Trust (CHCLT) will prove to Harlemites that they belong in Harlem, by giving them the ultimate symbol of belonging: a key to the neighborhood.
At the “Keys to Unlocking Central Harlem” Town Hall event, all Harlemites will be honored with a symbolic key to the community.
Harlem Billboards will introduce CHCLT as the key to housing in Harlem.
CHCLT wants real keys for Harlemites
Beyond giving residents a symbolic key, CHCLT wants to give Harlem residents a chance at affordable homeownership.
Most residents have never heard of CLTs, let alone CHCLT. Through the “Keys to Central Harlem” 10 episode podcast, residents can learn about affordable housing opportunities.
Unlocking Subway Experiences
CHCLT will create a custom MetroCard keepsake that is available in Central Harlem subway kiosks.
